Our close relationship with Pearson's Direct to Learner team led to the opportunity for Elektra Media to become involved in a new and exciting area of educational publishing: providing dedicated resources for private tutors.

Pearson had identified this potential new market, previously not catered for by UK publishers, and asked Elektra Media to explore in detail the viability of producing educational materials with the specific aim of helping private tutors plan and deliver high quality tuition for their students.

By undertaking thorough market research and liaising with professional tutors and tutoring agencies, we were able to create a detailed plan of what a successful tutor’s resource would include for professional tutors working with students in Key Stage 2 maths and English.

By complementing our proven experience in producing classroom and revision resources with the ‘coalface’ experience of our tutoring professional consultants, we produced a set of resources unlike any other from a major UK publisher, providing tutor delivery packs that offered lessons, activities and homework ideas for new and experienced tutors alike. In addition, complementary assessment packs provided materials and exam-style papers to help tutors prepare their students for the new National Curriculum tests for the end of Key Stage 2.

The result was a one-stop-shop for tutors, with resources which not only helped to deliver lessons that would cover the full curriculum, but that saved the many hours of unpaid lesson planning that is common amongst private tutors.
